Wellness Habits

A gamified app that helps employees develop wellness habits in nutrition, sport and emotions within 21 days...

The Project

Psychologists say it takes about 21 days to form a new habit. However, nobody says that these 3 weeks should be boring, hard, and almost impossible to survive. There is one thing that solved the issue. Meet Wellness Habits — a gamified mobile app that helps start eating healthier, work out more frequently, take care of emotional health more thoroughly, and form new positive habits.

Challenges

Together with the Spanish IT agency Basetis, we define a few main challenges for us. First of all, we were needed to gamify the process as much as possible, and at the same time educate people on how to take care of themselves.

Secondly, when you eat junk food, slouch, and make fun twice a year, you lack an understanding of where to start. We had to build a clear and simple way to wellness; so a person shouldn’t feel pressured.

Exploration

Our target user is an office worker who spends lots of time at the desk and hardly has time to make little warm-up. We started with a mini-investigation of the lifestyle of V**** company employees: what is their pain, what and how they do during the workday, what are their needs, wished, and goals. After the analysis, we made some assumptions on how we can help employees with our product.

Rapid Prototyping

Having received enough information, we singled out the main concepts, created informational structures, and elaborated a few user scenarios along with UJM. That helped us to develop an interactive prototype for further testing with the company’s employees.

Designs

Thanks to rapid prototyping we quickly fabricated an MVP and solved bottleneck issues in some of our ideas. We decided to add varied bright colors for each category to make them more highlighted. In that way, the appearance of the application gives a feeling of participation in the game with a new game round opening at every click.

Talking more about the game resemblance, the mobile app has stages and vary of achievements, and specifically for this, I have designed more than 30 custom unique illustrations for gift badges!

A lot of work has been done on the details, so each small and large element got its place. We also created a simple analytical dashboard for administrators who will monitor all the progress of the company’s employees.

Conclusion

Within a few months, Wellness Habits was radically transformed and took on a significantly improved look. Using methods of creative problem solving, along with the development we expanded the capabilities of the application for corporate organizations.

An insightful thing we brought from this experience is that when you get excited about the project you strive to explore as much as possible. You get so many creative and audacious ideas that you can produce a great number of iterations until you understand “that is it”.
